Are herbicides the solution? The answer is NO

ProcellaCOR for milfoil is a permit-only herbicide!

Several property owners have asked whether ProcellaCOR can be used to control Eurasian milfoil. The answer is no — not without government permits, and possibly not at all.

Families draw drinking water from our lake

Health Canada requires permits from federal and provincial agencies before anyone can apply this product to a lake. The product label also says it cannot be used in water for irrigation. Families with young children draw their drinking water directly from our lake. Health Canada has determined permits are required to protect our families, fish and ecosystem.

Resistance problem

The manufacturer warns that weeds can become resistant to ProcellaCOR if it’s used repeatedly in the same area. After 25+ years of milfoil on our lake, using a product that could make the problem worse requires careful thought before applying for permits.

Individual property owners cannot legally apply this product

The lake association has not applied for permits and is not pursuing this option at this time.
